The story

Cave takes its name from the place where its perfumes come of age. Every extrait de parfum in the collection is handcrafted in Italy and then, before being packaged, left to rest for months in the silence of ancient caves dug into the tuff. There, the house explains, a natural microclimate makes the juice “rounder, more balanced and surprisingly persistent”. It is a rare ritual, which gives the collection “its name and its soul”, and which Cave sums up in one sentence: “Time is our secret ingredient”.

Behind it all is Rome. Cave is based in via del Babuino and comes from the same house as Essential Professional Make-up, which has worked in Italian cosmetics for over twenty years. And Rome returns in the perfumes. Alheba, “the gift” in Arabic, is a breeze between East and West that stirs the curtains of “a window wide open on the skies of Rome”. Amor, the city's name read backwards, tells of the Caput Mundi of alleys and cobblestones, where everything coexists with everything, and closes like “a snapshot of Campo de' Fiori”.

Every creation, the house says, is a journey: gourmand, amber, floral, woody, marine. They are all Extraits de Parfum, and Cave does not sign them with the name of a nose: it presents them as its own creations, conceived and made in-house. The best-known titles, such as Alheba, Love Declaration and Amor, were joined in 2024 by Secret Tuberose and Marine. In February 2025 White Amber was previewed at Esxence, in Milan, followed in June by Sunset Caramel and in December by Wood Mirage. The latest arrival, in 2026, is Bloomè.

To help you find your way, Cave accompanies every perfume with an essential profile: olfactory family, dominant accord, ideal moment, intensity and sillage. Alheba, incense and precious woods, is among the most intense in the collection. Sunset Caramel is “a promise of warmth”, “your aura at sunset”. Marine is a secluded beach, with salt on the skin. Mystic Moon is a comet brushing past the earth on a full-moon night; Wood Mirage an imaginary forest, told in the first person down to the last line: “I am Wood Mirage”. The stories change, the signature remains: the best raw materials, a high concentration and months of waiting in the tuff, for perfumes the house wants just like this, intense, persistent, enveloping.

Alheba is a woody, amber Extrait de Parfum. The name comes from Arabic and means “the gift”. It opens with elemi, incense and labdanum, has a heart of cashmere wood, lavender and white musk and a base of patchouli, ambergris and oakmoss. It is among the most intense in the collection, perfect in the evening and in the cold seasons.

What kind of perfume is Cave Sunset Caramel?
Sunset Caramel is a gourmand, amber Extrait de Parfum, released in 2025. It is born in the instant before sunset, when the world turns gold: milk, coconut, almond and anise in the opening, a heart of orange blossom, ylang ylang and nectarine peach, a base of Bourbon vanilla, caramel and ambergris. Sweet, but never banal.

The three to start with are Alheba, for those who love incense, woods and amber, Sunset Caramel, for those looking for a creamy, sunny gourmand, and Amor, fruity and powdery, which tells of Rome. Are Cave perfumes for men or for women?
They are conceived as unisex: the house does not divide them by gender. Of Rosa Vaniglia, for example, it writes that it suits male and female skin to perfection.
