Régalien

The story

Régalien was born in Istanbul in 2016 from the dream of two brothers, Bilen and Varol Besen. Engineers by training, they have been drawn to the world of scent since childhood, when, the house says, they experimented with flowers to make homemade perfumes. The name they chose sounds French but looks to the sultans: Régalien means “belonging to royalty”, and declares the ambition of giving those who wear their perfumes a sense of noble elegance.

The idea is to reinterpret timeless traditions with a modern touch. Istanbul, suspended between two continents, is the starting point: by uniting the essence of East and West, the house creates fragrances infused with the stories, landscapes and heritage of these lands. The compositions are created in the city, with the perfumers of MG Gülçiçek, Istanbul's historic fragrance house, and in the city they are produced: all at Extrait de Parfum concentration.

The heart of this story is the Heritage Collection, presented at Pitti Fragranze in Florence in 2021: a tribute to the artistic spirit of royalty, with bottles reminiscent of imperial treasures. The house presents each fragrance as a modern legacy, crafted with rare ingredients. Each perfume opens a room of the Ottoman palace. Turkuaz is the warm breeze drifting through the seaside gates of the summer palace. Şah is inspired by the scents of the great sovereigns, built around oud. Ala recalls the court calligraphers, who mixed amber and musk into their ink. Meftun evokes the harem and its patchouli, one of the most used palace scents. Nazen is spring in the gardens, when the white flowers bloom.

In 2022 came Hatır, dedicated to Turkish coffee and to the saying that a cup of coffee is remembered for forty years. Today the house's catalogue includes four more collections, from hammam rituals to lucky-charm perfumes, but it is the Heritage Collection that best tells its soul. Régalien, which first exhibited at Pitti Fragranze back in 2019, also took its new creations to Esxence, in Milan, in 2026. These are intense, narrative perfumes, made to last: of Turkuaz, the freshest, the house says that it is surprisingly long-lasting and leaves a strong trail. The Heritage Collection

• Şah (2021): woody spicy. Ozonic and mineral notes; Turkish rose, saffron, nutmeg, clove and geranium; Cambodian oud, patchouli and cedarwood.
• Turkuaz (2021): marine spicy. Marine and ozonic notes, artemisia and saffron; seaweed, blackcurrant and Turkish rose; ambroxan, amber and oakmoss.
• Ala (2021): spicy amber. Cinnamon, cognac, apricot, coriander and whisky; honey, geranium, rosemary and Turkish rose; tonka bean, vanilla, benzoin, labdanum, amber and musk.
• Meftun (2021): spicy woody. Cinnamon, coriander, rum and cognac; ginger, wormwood and red berries; patchouli, incense, ambrette, musk and sandalwood.
• Nazen (2021): floral fruity. Peach, green notes and bergamot; tuberose, jasmine, gardenia, ylang ylang and lily; coconut butter, vanilla and white musk.
• Hatır (2022): gourmand spicy. Turkish coffee, galbanum and ginger; iris, vetiver and white chocolate; caramel, vanilla and tonka bean.

What is the difference between the 50 ml and the 80 ml size?
The perfume is the same, always at Extrait de Parfum concentration. The 50 ml is the size in which the Heritage Collection was launched in 2021; the 80 ml is the house's current size. The sizes available are shown on each perfume's page.
