The Fragrance

Berbera is the ancient port of Somaliland from which the most precious resins in perfumery have set sail for centuries: the perfume tells of their journey from the sun-drenched landscapes of the Horn of Africa to the capitals of perfume, such as Paris, Grasse and New York. The incense, myrrh and opoponax gum-resins come from Somaliland, harvested from Boswellia and Commiphora trees, and the incense is processed with three different extraction techniques to express every facet. With a 22% concentration and over 90% natural ingredients, it is also designed for layering, following Middle Eastern tradition. It is signed by perfumers Fabrice Pellegrin and Coralie Spicher: for Pellegrin, Berbera is an inspiration to travel and mystery.

How It Evolves on Skin

The opening is luminous and spicy: spicy incense lights up with the resinous freshness of elemi, the warmth of nutmeg and the liveliness of black pepper. In the heart the incense changes face and becomes leathery incense, powdery and enveloping, joined by the balsamic warmth of myrrh. The base is deep and sensual: incense resins with smoky facets, amber and opoponax leave a warm, long-lasting trail.
