The Fragrance

Grande Île is the nickname of Madagascar, the largest island in the Indian Ocean: the fragrance celebrates its biodiversity and pays tribute to the vanilla growers of the Sava region. It is signed by perfumer Frank Voelkl: his idea was to bring into the perfume the sensuality of skin warmed by the sun and the light of a unique place, with vanilla and spices that all come from the island. Like every Nissaba creation, whose name recalls the ancient Mesopotamian goddess of grain and writing, it is formulated with around 90% ingredients of natural origin and organic French wheat alcohol. In 2023 Grande Île won the Responsible Innovation prize at the FiFi Awards of The Fragrance Foundation France, in the category dedicated to the rising stars of perfumery.

How It Evolves on Skin

The opening is warm and pungent: black pepper and pink pepper from Madagascar light up the skin with a lively, luminous spiciness. In the heart the infusion of Bourbon vanilla unfolds, soft and comforting, underlined by the warm character of clove. The base is an ambery embrace with caramel hints: cedarwood, patchouli and guaiac wood give structure, while vanilla planifolia leaves an enveloping, long-lasting trail.
