Velvet Splendour is like pressing your face into a large bunch of sunburnt wildflowers, carried on the breeze of the Australian countryside. It is inspired by the blooming of mimosa, the wattle, which in the Flinders Ranges bursts into a sea of yellow and heralds the arrival of spring: the founder recalls seeing it stretch as far as the eye could see along the road. The fragrance paints this spring in broad impressionist strokes, with the soft yellows of the flowers against the blue of the sky. Like all of the house's creations, it combines Australian raw materials with French savoir-faire, at a concentration of 20% essences.

How It Evolves on Skin

The opening is radiant and effervescent: mandarin joins aldehydes and hedione, which bring light and a feeling of clear air. In the heart the luminous flowers bloom: soft, powdery Australian mimosa absolute intertwines with orange blossom absolute and jasmine sambac. As the hours pass, the fragrance settles on a warm, sensual base of Australian sandalwood, patchouli, Haitian vetiver and a touch of leather, made creamy by tonka bean, opoponax and heliotropin.

According to Goldfield & Banks, all of the house's fragrances are vegan and cruelty-free, with two exceptions: Velvet Splendour and Silky Woods, which contain beeswax. They are still cruelty-free.

How long does Velvet Splendour last?
It has excellent longevity: fragrance lovers often report more than eight hours, with a strong trail in the first hours that then becomes softer and closer to the skin. A few sprays are enough.
