"My childhood memories of jasmine are closely linked to my grandmother, who would call me to run into the gardens at the crack of dawn to pick figs from the tree on our farm.
I remember running up the tree through chamomile weeds, thistles and dandelions. I climbed the first branches to get to the softest, juiciest figs at the top. But the most important part came later, after filling the bowl with enough fruit, I ran to the jasmine tree to carefully pick the delicate flowers. I filled the bowl with jasmine so that the figs were just barely visible.
