The Fragrance

Purple Suede is a sensual interpretation of Tasmanian lavender, a variety of Lavandula angustifolia originally from Provence, brought over a century ago to the Australian island, where it thrives in a pristine terroir. The brand evokes purple fields burnt by the sun of Australian summers and the scent of rust-coloured saddles, combined in an aromatic leather fragrance with a dry, enveloping warmth. For the leather, the perfumer used a generous dose of Woodleather, a woody leather accord exclusive to Firmenich. Like all creations in the Botanical Series, it is housed in a French glass bottle lacquered with 24-carat gold.

How It Evolves on Skin

The opening is lively and spicy: raspberry and pink pepper join coriander seeds and Guatemalan cardamom, for a fruity, peppery start. In the heart the star blooms, sweet and aromatic Tasmanian lavender, accompanied by rose essence and French hyssop oil, which adds an almost liquorice-like nuance. As the hours pass, the fragrance becomes darker and more sensual: Woodleather, soft as suede, melts with Indonesian patchouli, amber, civet and tropical Australian agarwood, in an animalic, woody and enveloping base.
